Stepping Out With Faith

Help Us Make Our Family Official Through Adoption

 From Our Daughter’s Heart

"My name is Josephine. I have two little sister, Precious and Esther.

For the past few years, we have been living with  Faith and  David as a foster family.

Before that, life was very uncertain. Sometimes we didn’t know where we would stay or what we would eat. But people around us were trying their best, even when things were hard.

When we came to live with them, things began to feel different. We go to school, we eat together, and we feel safe. We laugh a lot now.

We hope we can stay together forever."

Our Journey

In January 2023, our lives changed forever. We had been living in Fort Portal, Uganda, volunteering with YES Uganda when we met three girls: Josephine (9 years old), Precious (6 years old), and Esther (3 years old).

At the time, their family was facing significant challenges, including housing instability and difficulty maintaining consistent care. Like many families in difficult circumstances, everyone was doing their best with what they had. As we spent more time with the girls and those around them, we began supporting where we could.

After much thought, prayer, and guidance, the girls came to live with us in January 2023 under a foster care arrangement. What began as temporary care has, over time, become something much deeper.

From Fostering to Family

Over the past three years, Josephine (Now 12 years old), Precious (Now 9 years old), and Esther (now 6 years old) have been part of our family in every way. We have continued to encourage relationships with their parents where safe and appropriate, always hoping that long-term stability might be possible within their biological family.

However, over time it became clear that this was not something that could be consistently achieved. This is not about blame, only about ensuring the girls have the stability, care, and safety they need to grow and thrive.

Through fostering them, we have watched them heal, grow in confidence, and experience the security every child deserves. They are no longer just children in our care, they are our daughters.

Our Life Today

We originally came to Uganda from the UK to volunteer, but our lives are now deeply rooted here.

  • Faith is a qualified nurse and serves as Deputy Warden at Manna Rescue Home

  • David is a qualified electrician and serves as Deputy Director of YES Uganda

We live simply, supported by our church community, and are committed to continuing our lives here long-term.

  • Josephine (12) is a caring and protective big sister.

  • Precious (9) is full of curiosity and energy.

  • Esther (6) brings joy and laughter into our home every day.

Why Adoption Matters Now

The foster care arrangements that currently allow the girls to stay with us will expire within the next year.

When this happens, a permanent legal decision must be made.

Without adoption, the girls could be required to return to uncertain living situations. We cannot imagine that for them.

Adoption would mean:

  • A permanent, legally secure home

  • Long-term stability and protection

  • The ability to fully move forward as a family

The Cost of Adoption

The summary total cost of completing the adoption process is approximately: £40,000 ($50,800)

  • £25,000 ($31,750)      UK adoption process

  • £6,500 ($8,255)          Ugandan legal & court process

  • £4,000 ($5,080)          Child documentation (3 children)

  • £2,200 ($2,790)          Travel (flights & logistics)

  • £2,300 ($2,920)          Immigration & exit paperwork
